Which places are recommended for seeing the Northern Lights? And when are the best times?

I'd really want to see the magnificent display of the Aurora Borealis. When and where??

  1. you should be at or above the 45th parallel. I'm in Michigan and we are treated to a show every once in a while. The best viewing is usually in winter because the athmosphere is cold and clear. But we've also seen them in summer.

    Go to Alaska or Northern Canada for the very best showing!  I've heard its astounding and amazing.

    By the way, you can join a local astronomy group to get on the call list when something exciting is happening in the sky, like northern lights or commets.  check it out.


  2. Kiruna in Sweden. Tromso in Norway.

    The best time is Mid-June.
