Well.. I haven't really decided what kind of vacation I want so I just wanted to know if others have any feedback on their vacation at a place in Ontario and where they would suggest others to visit.

  1. It kind of depends on what you are asking.. a vacation could mean that you are looking for a "touristy" area... or you could be looking for a place to camp.. and even that, there are different things to consider... do you like "ruffin' it" or do you like the carefree, full featured type campgrounds...

For touristy stuff, I think one of the best places to visit, if you haven't already... is Ottawa... there is a bus tour that you can buy a pass for that allows you to get on and off wherever you like along the route (like all the museums and historic sites) and that saves you the navigating of the city center (crazy!!).

If you are lookin' it rough it camping, I can't help you much, I have lots of little kids, can't imagine camping being enjoyable under such conditions... but many of the camp grounds are very nice.

The St.Lawrence Parkway campgrounds are particularly nice... I've just come back from yet another wonderful experience camping in the Parkway (McLaren campsites)... reasonable cost, fully functional CLEAN bathrooms, CLEAN showers available, very pretty beaches, and close to some neat places like "Upper Canada Village" and just a short drive to Cornwall where you can catch a bridge over the St. Lawrence and head into the States for some cheap shopping...

So... basically, my answer is "it depends"... what do you want to do on your vacation? *grin*  One suggestion I could make is to decide what you want to do then create a webquery for it... like if you put "historical site tourism ontario" then you'll probably get quite a few hits that might tickle your fancy... if you are lookin' for a place to go "rv'ing" that is "five star" rated... type in "5 five star rv'ing" or "best rv sites ontario" ...

Good luck, and have a nice trip! :o)
