  1. F18 oh yeah!

  2. F18 no patriotic reasoning, the Euro fighter is a weapons platform and without the computer it would fall out the sky.

The F18 was built by Americans for Americans the Euro fighter was built by Europeans all wanting their bit of the pie; it's a piece of political c**p!

  3. This will be a case of Americans vs Europeans.

  4. depends on the skill of the pilot of ether aircraft. There have been foreign countries that like Iraq that had sophisticated aircraft but didn't know how to use the aircraft to it's full abilities.

  5. each aircraft has their advantages, and disadvantages, and while overall the typhoon is a better performer than the F/A-18, the reality is that it comes down to the person in the cockpit. this has been proven time and again since WW l when the theories behind air to air combat were written in blood. given equal pilots, and equal tactics, the typhoon would likely come out on top.

  6. F-18

  7. i would suggest the eurofighter for many of the reasons others have stated. whilst it is correct that it could and would not stay in the air without the computers, no other aircraft currently in production/ in active service can keep up with its performance, i.e supersonic turn rates, rate of climb, speed of aspect change and its almost unbelievable aerobatic ability. i have seen this many times in the course of my work, as i work for a company that provides essential mservices to many events, two of which are the r.i.a.t airshow at r.a.f. fairford in gloucester,u.k (the largest military airshow in europe) and the biggin hill airshow. you have to see this thing in action to believe it, it can turn almost in it's own length, and the vertical climb rate is astonishing. it can also sit still vertically for several seconds!

  8. The Typhoon would fly home from that battle. You should remember that the F/A-18 wasnt exactly an air superiority fighter while the Typhoon can be. The Typhoon has better sensors, more weapon options and better maneuverability.

In fact this isnt a good contest at all, these aircrafts are essentially a generation apart and built for different purposes. The more refined technology and capability of the Typhoon would see it through.

  9. Came across an article from 2000 describing the Eurofighter Typhoon.  Many comparisons made to the current batch of fighters.

Here is an excerpt from the conclusion.

"What conclusions can we draw about the Typhoon ? The notion that the aircraft is "almost as good as an F-22" is not supportable, indeed upgrading the F-15 with engines and a radar/IRS&T/AAM package of the same generation as that of the Typhoon would equalise almost all advantages held by the Typhoon over older F-15C/E variants. By the same token, no upgrades performed on the F/A-18A/C would equalise the performance advantages of the Typhoon over these aircraft".

Note that the new Super Hornet F/A-18 E/F is not mentioned.  I would be interested to see how the new Hornet would stack up to the Typhoon.

  10. I'd go for the Eurofighter.

Mostly its close in weapons are the same for both aircraft and when it come does to a dogfight you want to destory your enemy from as far way as possable - the eurofighters new Meteor missile will def give it a further punch.

If it ever did go in to a real dogfight id still say the typhoon as it can maintain a supersonic turn rate and has faster acceleration the the F18's.

  11. F18 hands down
