And whats the future of Aviation? I mean when gas prices decrease, which im sure they will, will airlines begin to rebuild?

You cant say that the aviation world is horrbile, because 11 different airlines are hiring pilots.

  1. Cant help you with the planes, but thanks for making me laugh with the line about gas prices decreasing....

  2. The 717, 737, 747, 757, 767, 777, 787, MD-11, A320, A330, A340, A380 will still be inuse in 10 years.  The MD-80's will probably phased out over the next few years.  There are some DC-9's still in service that will start to be phased out soon.  To a less extend there are still 727 in service doing frieght. Unfortatnly my favorite the L-1011-500 is no longer service :(.   This does not count all the planes in other parts of the world that we never see that are still in service such as the Illyusians and Tupelov's.  That Russian stuff has been around for years and will continue to be.

  3. Since aircraft rarely have an "expiration date" all of the aircraft listed can and probably will be around in ten years.

Air travel will always be around - in some form or another. This is just a period of adjustment for the majors - and they could learn a few things from the smaller airlines.

  4. Here's a couple will still be in production in 10 years:

    Q-400

    ATR-72

MD-80's are outta here as quick as we can replace 'em.

Any jet under 50 seats is toast.

Any turboprop under 50 seats is probably starting to feel the heat.

Gas prices won't decrease.  But they'll stabilize, and within a year to 1 1/2 years afterward, commercial airlines will start growing again.

  5. Aviation will continue as always, until someone builds a transporter as seen in Star Trek.
