There is no such a thing,a planet doesn't determine,but there are fixed,mutable and cardinal signs.

Fixed-Leo,Taurus,Aquarius,Scorpio.

Mutable-Sagittarius,Virgo,Gemini,Pisce...

Cardinal-Aries,Capricorn,Libra,Cancer.

It's the sign itself that determines that, but since what we commonly think of when we say sign is the 'sun sign', in particular, I'll say "sun".

Anyway, the 12 signs are divided by elements and cardinal/fixed/mutable (I forgot the word for that).

Cardinal signs: Aries, Capricorn, Libra, Cancer

Fixed signs: Taurus, Scorpio, Leo, Aquarius

Mutable signs: Gemini, Picses, Sagittarius, Virgo
