Which planets are habitable for life in future? i know mars is one.Is there any other planets which humans can live on in future?

  1. no other planets. mercury and venus are waaaaay to hot. mercury has no atmosphere, venus has a very thick atmosphere and is a volcanic wasteland. jupiter is nothing but gas and some liquid gases, so is saturn, uranus and neptune. all KBO's (kupiter belt objects) like pluto, eris, and sedna are too cold. however, we could colonize on moons. our moon isn't the best moon to colonize on because it has no atmsosphere. Europa, jupiter's smallest galolein moon (sorry i know i spelled that wrong) is a possiblity. it is extreamily cold, but modern technology could make a thick atmosphere, and warm it up. its an icy world with water ice caps, and possibly a water ocean underneath acting as the mantel. but for right now, i think it is our best bet to colonize on mars.


  2. Actually none. They need green plants to live there first. I don't know of any plants that  can live at that temperature.

  3. Not in the Solar system.  Mars would actually be the easiest on which to create liveable shelters.

    However....  Some of the larger moons of Jupiter and Saturn may also be almost as easy to live on as Mars.

  4. How do you figure Mars? No atmosphere, maybe -200 degrees F on a good day.

    No planet has been discovered yet in our solar system that can sustain life. Except earth.

    (ANS) That's the 64 million dollar question, and the real answer is nobody yet knows the answer to this question.

    **In fact Mars is NOT habitable by humans that's incorrect. Mars is largely covered with deserts, vast old canyons & craters, its does have active volcanoes, ice caps (possibly some extremely limited H2O sources), active weather systems including high speed storms & cloud systems. A thin atmosphere that isn't breathable by humans. Mars has very few of the correct conditions for human life. Its NOT an option for rescuing the human species in future.

    THE FACTS,

    Cosmologists, Scientists, Astronomers, and Astrophysicists have now calculated that our universe consists of x1 Trillion stars. That if only a tiny, tiny, tiny % of those stars contained planetary systems. And that if only x1 % of those planets contained ALL the precise conditions to support life (inc human life) then that would still be x1 Million planets to discover?? Gosh certainly makes you think doesn't it?? !!!

    **The science of whats now called "exo planets" (planets NOT found within our own small solar system) is extremely new and is only really begin to become a reality in the last 5-10 years as larger & more sophisticated telescopes have come on stream such as the Hubble space telescope.

Earth is the only one.  Mars is not habitable without the same kind of containment you would need in outer space.  The idea of moving people to another world is a pipe dream.  Even if it could somehow be managed, it would only be for a handful of people.  Mass transport just ain't gonna happen.  All the rest of us, (our descendants), are stuck here.

    So let's hope we can keep *this* planet habitable.

  7. there are thoughts about terraforming mars. It is a prime candidate. We just don't yet have economical technology to get large amounts of mass to mars.

  9. As stated above, Mars would be easiest, but it's still way beyond us.

    If you like sf, read Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars trilogy. It gives an idea of what's involved. (I know it's fiction, but still...)

  10. I think the answer everyone is searching for is that there were no other planets created for life to inhabit.

  11. Actually, Mars is not habitable.

    The atmosphere is almost all CO2, and Mars has only 1% the air pressure at its surface as on Earth.

    Mars has no liquid water (though it may have significant ice underground), plus it has no magnetic field to protect life on its surface from solar radiation.

    None of the planets or moons in our solar system are habitable by humans without enclosed, self-contained habitats with air, heat, and protection from radiation (like spacecraft on the ground).

  12. As far as I know, Mars is the ONLY other planet that can even remotely become habitable due to "terraforming".

    Otherwise, we might have to look elsewhere, outside of our own solar system, to find habitable "Earth-like" worlds orbiting around nearby stars, either of which will be a long time in coming.
