  1. Am involved in an energy project where we are promoting energy saving stoves here in Kenya. We are also planning to diversify the energy program where we want our groups to grow fuel crops.

Through my research we have known "Jatropha" this is a crop that is known to produce bio-diesel that can be used for cooking, lighting, running engines plus many more functions.

  2. It is probably more to do with where. Some items grow best in some places and not in others. The choice has to be, in a given area, what are the choices I have to work with to get a high production of oil in this place.

  3. I've heard that it's Switch Grass.

  4. sorry

  5. Cannabis is the best plant for producing bio-deisel. It has the highest yield of natural oils out of any plant. I think it's pretty edible though but hey may as well go for yield...why would anyone want to produce poisonous non-edible oils anyways?

  6. i would go with cannibis

  7. As far as I know the highest ratio of oil actually comes from certain types of alge. The cells of alge are by weight 50% or more oil that can be extracted and refined for many different uses.

There are some folks at Arizona State University who are doing research on this right now, and I believe there are some other research projects going on around the country as well.
