Thanks!

  2. Hello, I'm in N. CA and yes, we can plant year 'round. The thing that you have to watch out for is frost. I do get frost and I cannot plant tender things during the winter months but I can get away with planting everything else. I'm in zone 8 and I don't plant any zone 9 and up plants after October just to be sure I don't lose them over the winter.

Here are two additional zoning links for you.

This one is to find the USDA Zone by using your zip code (I find this helpful because the map is quite small to find your city on!!).

This one is to find your Sunset Zone. The "Sunset" magazine produces a lot of garden books that are specific to those of us in the "west." Their books have a zoning system that is different than the USDA Zones and is specific to our climate. Keep in mind that you generally will not find this zone listed with plants, you see the national zone of the USDA system. But the Sunset zones are helpful to us, and if you have the "Sunset Western Garden Book" you will see they have the plants rated in there-very helpful for us! (If you don't have one, I highly recommend getting one. It's a bible for us in the west.)

Hope this helps you! Happy Gardening. :)
