Id take Jefferson any day. Josh Smiths are a dime a dozen, athletic swingmen who cant really shoot and are very raw. Yes hes a great defender, but thats not rare. Jefferson is one of the few players in the league who is capable of averaging 20 and 10 and he is someone to build your team around. Smith is great, but hes not a franchise player.

Josh Smith is the better player.

The wolves depended on Jefferson in the last season, even though they didn't win a lot, Jefferson played great. He averaged 21 points and 11 rebounds, a solid double-double (http://www.nba.com/playerfile/al_jeffers...

But that's because the wolves didn't really have anyone left and Jefferson is their only good player.

Josh Smith is on a better team, he's got good players surrounding him, Joe Johnson, Al Horford, and they added Mike Bibby later on.

The hawks played good, made the playoffs, and took the Celtics to 7 games.

Even though Al jefferson had better numbers, but he's the team's go to guy and had the ball a lot.

Smith didn't get the ball as much and still throw up nice numbers.

I would take jefferson on my team over smith anyday. Jefferson is an absolute beast who can dominate a game offensively. Smith is good and can affect a game with his great defence but scoring I think is more important. That is why Kobe wins the MVP and Bruce Bowen isn't even in the conversation. Say what you want about offensive minded players, but they are the ones who win the big games and take the big shots. You can' pay a player like 12-15 million a year and he can't even make a shot to win the game. Just not worth it in my books.

Al Jefferson: Very good post scorer, great rebounder, can block, could work on his post defense but his overall defense is decent. jefferson averaged 21 pts 11 rbds and 1.5 blks, so he helped his team go 22-60? So basically he just got all the numbers because he is a good player but no body else can really score and rebound in the post.

josh Smith: Decent scorer, great rebounder, good passer, can steal, and he can block consistently. Smith averaged 17 pts 8 rbds 3.5 ast. 1.5 steals and 2.8 blks. Last year the hawks went 37-45 and the pushed the Celtics to a game seven in the playoffs.

So right now I think it is Josh Smith but in a few years al jefferson will catch him.
