  1. Tyler Myers. 6-7 defenseman projected the number 4 defenseman and 5 prospect by Sporting News falliing to Biffalo at 12. He's a mini Zdeno Chara

  2. since tom covered all the players i'm stoked about, minus luca schenn, i'll just say i back all his picks cause i love and watch and follow the ohl.

aside from that i would agree with the redwings pick, and also niemi.

i love this years draft class!!!

and don't forget the dane/sweds/fins/russians. some really good picks there. tedneby.

  3. Jesper Samuelsson. If the Red Wing magic holds true here is another kid from Sweden who is similar in stature to Henrik Zetterberg at that age. And what a coincidence....he was picked in pretty much the same spot as Zetterberg. Not bad for being this years last pick, nobody can ever be sure how draft picks will work out, even early ones in the NHL bust more often than in other leagues. But history seems to point to brilliance with late rounders that get picked by the Wings so for now Jesper is my pick for biggest steal.

  4. #98 Mikhail Stevanovich was rated #38 by TSN before the draft and was taken 98th by Toronto. He won the Mike Bossy Trophy in the Q last year and is a little like another Leaf forward Antropov..

Of course there is always #153 Justin Azevedo. he was only the player of the year in the OHL. and was taken in the 6th round by LA Kings. In case no one knows the OHL was the league that Stamkos played in. This guy was the player of the year and the leading scorer.  -   # 153.

A third possibility is a goaltender #122 Dustin Tokarski MVP in the Mem Cup. taken in the fifth round by Tampa Bay.

  5. im thinkin harri sateri

  6. Matt Carle (SJ) 's younger brother David Carle, didn't go until #203 by Tampa.

He's supposed to be every bit as good as his brother is, so I bet he'll be the 7th round pick everybody talks about in a few years.

He was ranked as the 60th best prospect by TSN, so his huge fall is shocking, I thought San Jose would take him in the later rounds to play with his bro.

  7. Yann Suave. Low 30's big, bruising defenseman. He went 41st for the Canucks. He had over 90 penalty minutes. He had 6 goals and 15 assists in 69 games. He's 6'3 and 220 pounds. I think a good first year for him in the NHL would be 2-5-8. He's a top 4 D-Man in a few years.

  8. I'm going to stick with my Wings and say Jesper Samuellson.  62 points and 40 games... now my math tells me thats more than a point per game... and he was picked dead last... I think we might be able to answer "Whos the best last pick ever?"... thank you Hakan Anderson (sp.)

  9. toronto got the best for that spot.they went 5.

  10. definetly tyler myers. i was honestly pretty suprised he went at even 12 i thought he would be one of the first to go. hes 6'7ft and a pretty talented player hes simply just got some getting use to his body to do and hes a sure nhl star in a few years

  11. Really tough to gauge at this point, but i'll say Jyri Niemi at #72.  The guy probably slipped to the 3rd round because of his hip injury, but he's a solid 2 way dman with a h**l of a shot.  He won the hardest shot competition this past January at the Top Prospects festivities.  He's also been playing in the WHL so he's already learning the north american game.  Projected late 1st round, he ended up almost midway through the 3rd round with the Islanders!

--scott_decoy-- David Carle got chosen late out of a gesture of kindness by TB.  He was diagnosed with a heart condition and won't be competing in the NHL level anytime soon.  He won't even be competing in the Denver school program.
