I was looking down the rankings list to see who has the game for it and came up with:

Kuznetsova

Hantuchova

and Radsanska

The first two both have everything in there game to do it but lack the neccessary edge between the ears. It is such a shame because Hantuchova has a really nice game-lots of craft and skill

Radswanska I think has real star potential She has that look of quality about her. Like Martina Hingis.

Who would you like to see step it up?

I have a feeling lots of you will say Dinara Safina

  1. Safina is my pick for number #1. She has an awesome all around game and piercing groundstrokes. She has also claimed wins on multiple surfaces in 2008. She has been to the Roland Garos finals and has come out very strong. She deserves to be #1 in my oppinion.

  2. realistically, I'd like to see Safina maintain her current form.

unrealistically i'd love to see marina erakovic from new zealand get super good and maria kirilenko!

  3. please, jennifer capriati was a terrible sport to her opponents. i can't stand her. but lucky for you, she's on the women's u.s. olympic team. hooray :/

  4. serena or sharapova. Sharapova is an amazing player but doesnt play like it she just doeant try like she should.

  5. Definitely Maria. These current crop of players lack the mental ability and strength of the Williams sisters and Maria. If these 3 remain healthy, we are almost assured of at least a few competitive match ups among them.

Add Radwanska and Safina into the mix and we get a good women's tour...

  6. As long as Serena is still around, shes my girl. That nagging thigh injury though, I just dont know. I wish Ivanovic, my current 2nd fav woudl handle her nerves and pressure better. Since her huge win , is a mess. However, months ago I mentioned to everyone to watch out for Radwanska, and here she is at # 10 in the world. As well as with Azarenka, Szvay, Wozniacki and Kleybanova.

Safina as of late, no doubt, has been playing like a future number one and perhaps sooner then we think. Kuz cant seem to get the big wins, and Hantuchova, well shes just quite erratic and hasnt done a thing really after that big win over Hingis, how many years ago?

  7. Serena, Venus and Safina.  I like Kuznetsova  too.

  8. I think Safina has already stepped it up and now all she needs is some great results in the Grand Slams. She made it to the Roland Garros final but her performance at Wimbledon was disappointing. She has been winning other respectable tournaments left and right though, and I really hope she can keep it going in the US Open. Her biggest improvement has not been in her game but rather how she handles herself on the court. She does not let her frustration and negativity affect her play as much anymore. Another great quality she has is she is a tremendous fighter, and she is probably the most dangerous player to play when her opponent is in the lead.

  9. I would like Dementieva to do well, she was playing great at Wimbledon and she is my favourite. She has a pretty inconsistent serve though so that can be a problem on the hard courts if she is getting a low percentage of first serves in.

My second favourite would be Safina who seems to be on a roll now and she's still young and has many years ahead of her.

I agree Serena is good but both her and Venus have a lot of small careers on the side (acting, fashion etc.) and don't seem to devote themselves to full time tennis like the others and seem to flit in and out of tournaments.

  10. Yea..you guessed right about me. I would love to have Dinara Safina as number one but I wouldn't mind Ana Ivanovic as well.

  11. 1st choice would be jelena.

2nd hmm.. well hantuchova is one of my fave players so i'd say her but i'd have to agree with your reasons. i haven't seen much of her lately, and when i do hear something about her, it's her losing in early rounds. but yeah i'd like her to step it up and possibly be on top.

radwanska- i like her actually, she's young and so talented. i bet she'll be no.1 in the future.

i also saw this young girl caroline wozniacki, she has a lot in store for her, i think she has potential too. she's 26th now i think.

  12. Serena: she is the best.  I don't want a woman number 1 to be that because people are injured around her.

    Ivanovic: like her game

Safina: like her game and the heart she's showing now. Nice to see.
