  1. There are 3 front row players and 3 back row players.

Only the 3 front row players may block the ball.  A block is when the player is above the line and the ball makes contact with them.  You do not have to attempt to block.  You just have to be above the line.  (That is why so many back row setters get called for back row block while they are trying to set the ball.)

The front row players may attack the ball from the front row or the back row without restrictions as long as the ball is still on their side of the net.

The back row players may attack the ball if the ball is in the front row if:

    1)  the ball is not completely above the height of the net  or

    2) the last contact with the floor by the back row player is from behind the 10 foot (3 meter) line.

The Libero may not attack any ball from anywhere if the ball is above the height of the net.  Many people think that if the attack is from the back row, it is legal for the Libero to attack the ball.  That is not correct.

  2. all of them.

  3. Any players can. Except for when the back row  setter is front row, then she cannot. And on left side, they usually stay left side to block, but it depends on what the coach wants, she might tell them to go help the middle block. But the middle go wherever the hitter on the opposite team goes. (middle, right, left).
