  1. A great Starting Pitcher!! All teams need them.

  2. Starting pitcher because you need someone who can pitch well.

  3. Catcher. he's basically the captain of your defense , has to handle a pitching staff, and truly great ones are very difficult to find.

  4. I would start around a position player, not a pitcher. But defensive position isn't that important. Obviously, it would be great if he was a shortstop, second baseman, etc. But I'd take a 1B or LF who is one of the best hitters in the game over a 2B or SS who is a good, but not outstanding, hitter.

  5. Shortstop, there's lots of great ones out there who seem like they have different vital roles on their teams, whether it be leaders, base-stealing, power hitters, average hitters, or defensive specialists, or more than one of those.  I'd build my team around someone like Troy Tulowitski or Hanley Ramirez.

  6. Pitching wins in October

  7. 3rd basemen.  It's one of the toughest defensive positions out there.  3rd base is usually a pretty high offensive production area as well.  If you can have at least decent starting pitching but excellent defense than you're good.  So, I'm going to take the hot corner.

  8. You have to begin with a solid four man rotation pitching staff and a lights out closer.  Then you have to find a catcher good enough to lead them.  Next find the best keystone combination as the double play is a pitchers best friend.  Next a great defensive first baseball.  Then a power hitting third baseball.  Finally a fleet running outfield lead by the center fielder, captain of the out field.  Next the right fielder who must poccess a cannon for an arm with the ability to throw out anyone at third and home.  Rounding out the team is your left fielder.  Weakest arm of the three outfielders but who can make it up with a solid offensive showing at the plate.

  9. I would say shortstop since they're usually the best infield defenders. Although it really the matter entirely as long as the player is a good defender. Just as long as they're also a solid hitter with patience and speed. So while I prefer SS, I would also take the best overall player in the draft or whatever. I would not say pitcher, because they only play so often. I need someone to go out there everyday and give it their best.

  10. Starting pitching. If a team doesn't have at least decent starting pitching, they won't win.
