  1. That all depends on which one your going to get.

for gaming i would recommend a quad core for both intel and amd. but to sum up if your getting a top end intel then i think it would b better than a top end amd. but there would only be a slight performance difference

  2. I find AMD much better. Not only for games, but also the processors from AMD are great for other things also. From my experience with a number of computers from many brands, I find my own laptop with AMD much better.

They're great for multi-tasking, but heat up more and quicker than Intels. An average Intel Centrino or Pentium (non-overclocked), runs at about 40-50 degrees, but an AMD Turion TL-58 (the only one I have ever used) runs at 50 when idling, and may go upto even 70.

Still, I say AMDs are much better, at least than Centrino or Pentium, I mean, Intel can't be the best microprocessor maker in the world without any success.

  3. Intel. Just read paragraph 2 of this:

    http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/sho...

Thats comparing the wimpiest quad Intel has to the baddest AMD made. Dont want a quad for gaming right now. Quad pumped games are down the road quite a bit. I run an E8500 in my Vista gaming rig that I clock over 4 when benchmarking and run it 3.8 24/7(9.5X400--1600FSB) try that with any AMD. If you're doing a build I suggest you wait a while. According to Intel they will be releasing the Nehalem cpus in Sept, some with 8 cores. The 2.66 Nehalem which is supposed to sell for around $350 dusts the fastest cpu out right now as shown in paragraph 2 of this page:

    http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/int...

The Nehalems aren't 775 and will need the new boards like the X58 to run them on.

Toms hardware did a comparison of two high-end gamers, one running the $1400 QX9770 and one with the $180 E8500 Core 2 Duo. Clocked at the same clock they ran head to head in gaming benchmarks.

The Q6600 which is better for gaming than the baddest AMD according to the first link but the Q6600 is a last gen cpu and the current cpus are 25-27% faster than the last gen. Then the Nehalems are gonna be 20-30% faster than the current gen cpus.

Looking at the FACTS in the links I gave it sure doesn't seem that AMDs kick Intel butt in gaming does it? The AMD 9850BE and 9950BE are nice cpus but if they wanna run against the big Intels AMDs gotta get their clock speeds up.

  4. well its not as if no processor can play the most demanding games at the moment, unlike this graphics card saga with crysis, any top processor from either company will play any game extremely well, there is no card that can use more than one full core on game yet we are using quad core technology and going into 8 and maybe even 16 cores in late next year

  5. Both, but what matters is that you have a very good graphics card and more than the recommended amount of RAM.

  6. I personally like AMD processors, but as far as performance goes, Intel rules now. Even the quad core athlon cannot touch the present high-end core 2 duo. So I would recommend Intel for the time being.

  7. Intel is one of the larges chip company in the world, you can trust it.

and of course Intel is the best for Games.

  8. AMD is rubbish for gaming. I have one (an Athlon X2 4400+) which is supposed to run dual-core at 2.31GHz. It runs as a dual-core alright, but it gives the equivalent performance of a Pentium Dual-Core 2.0GHz. Intel is best for gaming, but don't bother with their Core 2 Extreme range. Sure, they'll blow everything else out of the water when it comes to gaming performance, but the flagship QX9775 will set you back about £720! Their best gaming processors are their Wolfdale Core 2 Quads. They give astonishing performance for reasonable price. The leading Q9650 @ 3GHz will only cost you just over £200 if you shop around a bit. And it can reach well over 4GHz with overclocking, maybe further with new tech hydrogen cooling.

  9. INTELL !
