Which quality will I get with this setup?

I have my HD Cable running into my DVD player through component cables. If I hook up a HDMI cable from my DVD player to my HDTV LCD television, will I get HDMI or Component quality for my cable?

By the time the signal reaches the HDMI cable it has already dropped in quality - HDMI cannot boost this up again. HD cable will never be as good as DVD through digital HDMI anyway

Buy running your HD cable thru the DVD player will reduce (down convert) the resolution to the TV.

Best hookup;

Connect your cable directly to the TV.

Connect the DVD to an AUX. component input of the TV.

(If you're TV has PIP, connect or assign the DVD to that input.

Resolution input connections from least desirable to best;

1) RF

2) Composite

3) S-Video

4) Component

5) HDMI
