Question:

Which rear rack will fit a Raleigh Tourist?

Even thought the rear tire is 28 inches, that has not been the problem. I see two problems.

1) there is only about a 1 inch space between the seat stays. So a rack that attaches around rather than thru the seat stays may be more appropriate.

2) the lower bolts that will attach the rack to the frame , s***w into threaded openings on the frame and this bolt is rather large, about 3/16 inch. So openings in the racks upright supports must be large enough to accommodate these bolts. Thanks in advance for your help.

  1. I got my rack from Halfords and the seat stays weren't a problem because it had two parallel metal bars for fitting to the frame which could be adjusted to fit any bike frame.

Every rack I've purchased has come with bolts that fit the holes in the frame and I assume that they are a universal size. If not I would just buy bolts of the right size and widen the holes on the rack by a fraction of a millimetre but as I say that problem has never arisen.
