  1. R134a or frion

    can be found at any auto store like autozne, advance auto, repair shops. cost like 12 dollars a can


  2. Well the refrigerant used today is designated R-134a. This is the "safer", environmentally friendly, replacement for the old R-12 freon used in automobiles of days gone by. R-12 is still used in industrial applications but you must be licensed to handle it now. I would imagine that there are still cars out there that still have the old R-12 in them. The two gas's will not mix and work effectively as refrigerant for a vehicles A/C system. Systems still running R-12 that develop a problem can only be serviced by a licensed mechanic, legally. Those systems must be vacuum evacuated and converted over to R-134a refrigerant.
