for the best south indian food... head to mini south india in mubmai... Matunga... every nook and corner has an udipi each of one wonderful...rama nayak, mysore cafe... mani's lunch home etc etc.

For a traditional south indian thali served on banana leaves.. got to shree krishna lunch homenear matunga station... cheap, delicious...

Otherwise theres Culture Curry (Goa Portugesa) in Mahim.. not bad..but could be more authentic

Theres rice boat in kalanagar.. again ok..

theres a small hotel called JKs in andheri east near ciggarette factory.. amazing mallu food.. (non veg rocks...exp the beef chilly.. if u eat beef that is)

Krishna Chhaya and Vrindavan in Khar are the best ones I've been to.Besides there will be many more as South Indian food is the most common and the most available in Mumbai.
