I've never been to Mars 2112, but the food at J&H is overpriced and bad. The ladies' room was one of the filthiest I've ever seen (and I'm a New Yorker! - imagine what I've seen). But the place was fun - even trying to find the bathroom through secret doors. You go to J&H for the show, for the atmosphere, not for the food. The same is probably true of Mars, too. I've never been, but, I was told that Ninja on Hudson Street is a lot fun, too.
