31 ANSWERS

  1. Maurice Richard - I saw his whole career the first time around, but I'd love to see it again.

  2. Mario Lemieux. Without a doubt.

Scoring on his first NHL shift of his first NHL game (thank you B's)

    best stat season = 1988-1989

    85 goals 114 assists 199 total points

Truly a class-act and truly amazing.

I just wish that some of you younger hockey fans had the opportunity and privilege to see him in action. We were really spoiled in Pittsburgh to have one of the greatest players of *all-time* display his prowess for his entire NHL career. I get chills just thinking about it.

    Thank you Mario!!!!

  3. NUMBAH FOAH, BOBBY OAH!

  4. I would love to see how Pavel Bure skates with the Russian powerhouses of today with the likes of Ovechkin, Malkin, Datsyuk, and Kovalchuk. It would be awesome to see him play on team Russia with these guys.

  5. rod gilbert, adam graves, brian leetch, mark messier, mike richter

  6. Bobby Orr No one changed the game the way he did. If his knees had held up he would own the record book. He could dominate both ends of the ice, no other def has ever led the NHL in scoring.

  7. pat lafontaine, gilbert  perreault,

and of course all the usual suspects

  8. maurice richard, bobby hull

    leafs:

hap day, charlie conacher, bill barilko, red kelly.

what, so i want to see these guys play.

BOOM BOOM Geffrion, bossy, dionne, lafleur, orr, gretzky as an oiler.

to the pens chick. i may be young, but i got to see lemeuix play, as well as some of the others people usually pick for this question (stevie y, messier). unfortunately i'm not old enough to have seen some of the players i listed. sucks.

    good call helfdog.

lol major tom. pangers awesome!!!! i wish i could've seen him play. i would have seen so many bad goals get through him.

  9. I'm gonna say Bobby Orr, with Patrick Roy and Mario Lemieux close behind.

  10. Steve Yzerman.    He was awesome and he is a class act.

  11. Bobby Orr is a great answer but I never saw him play to begin with... so I'm going with and Islander and another Bruin... Mike Bossy and Cam Neely.

  12. There are dozens I would like to have seen.  I was lucky enough to be around to have seen Gretzky and Lemieux throughout their careers so they are omitted.

    1) Bobby Orr - I saw him towards the end of his career but was too young to remember much of it.

    2) Gordie Howe - I saw him play a few times late in his career as well.

    3) Bobby Hull

    4) Maurice Richard

    5) Ted Lindsay

    6) Eddie Shore

I could do this all day long.

  13. Mario Lemieux.  I remember seeing him as a kid and being absolutely amazed.

  14. Ken Wregget.

  15. Vladimir Konstantinov

  16. Bobby Orr. We didn't see enought of him due to his bad knees. Most everyone else had a good run.

  17. In his prime? Bobby Orr hands down.

  18. Al MacInnis

In his prime he could play up to 40 minutes a game and be on the ice a full 2 minutes of every single powerplay.

When he teed'-it-up, everyone in front of the net would duck !!!

  19. Maurice Richard or BOOM BOOM Geffrion

  20. Mario Lemieux

  21. Since Orr was already picked multiple times i wouls say Gordie Howe.

  22. Lemieux. I got to see him only one time, when the Pens played the Carolina Hurricanes at the RBC Center at the start of the '05-'06 season. A few months later he retired due to his health, but even then I was amazed at Lemieux's skill with the puck. I'd love to see more of him in his prime, esepecially if we can stick a "in their prime" Ron Francis and Jaromir Jagr on his line.

  23. Stevie Y. He was my favorite player when I started watching hockey games. Now my fave is probably Nick Lidstrom.

  24. Lemieux, when i saw him last was in 1999 and i was 12 so i don't remember seeing him. all I remember was a sign about him....oh well....

  25. In their prime...Robert G. Orr or Rocket Richard.

  26. Pavel Bure

  27. Gretzky, Yzerman, Orr and Lemieux

EDIT - that's Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux

  28. Bobby Orr, I would like to see how he stacks up against a bigger, stronger, faster, league.

He could prove definitively that he was one the most talented players ever to lace them up.

**Well done Beer Slayer. You've won this round....

  29. Jimi Craig the goalie who played for the United states gold-medal team in 1980 when they beat the Czechs under the coaching of Herb Brooks.

  30. Vladimir Konstantinov-

His ability to get the other team's stars off of their game was second to none.  The consensus pick was the Flyers in 4 or 5 in 1997.  His combination of physical checking and excellent puck handling was a large part of what created the "choking situation" that Legion of Doom found themselves in.  The accident was a tragedy on so many levels, but selfishly I always will think of how we were denied of seeing one of the game's greats play longer.  So if I could see one player take the ice in his prime again it would be Vlad not only because I would love to watch him play but also because of how awesome it would be to see him at full capacity again.

  31. Growing up in Pittsburgh, I saw Mario in his prime so this is gonna sound a little strange. I would like to see Ron Francis, Very smart hockey player. He always came up huge in the big games.
