the compression ring is at the top and the oil ring is at the bottom, They should be marked by colour or some other markings.

The lighter colored one.

The rings are "the same",,,style & dimension-wise.

The difference is that the top ring has a coating on it.

I'm sure you realize there's a topside to each ring,,,,it's marked by any lettering or figures on the up-side of the ring.

Make certain they are properly positioned on the locating pin in the ring groove.
