Of these two bikes which is better? I'm going to buy a set of aerobars for the blue one so imagine its price as $480.00 and the white one as its listed price of $495. Also, could I get some input on the two colors? Thanks a ton.

  2. first

  3. Were it me and I was looking for an entry level tri bike, and I had ONLY those 2 choices I would go for the second one. You would at least avoid a creaking adjustable stem and already have aerobars.

However, before committing I would take a serious look for a used bike in the same price range. Neither of those will do you any favors in performance, and despite the advertising hype they are worth only what they are asking and NOT $900 or more.

The wheels are common factory replacement examples with 36 spokes and Formula hubs, the crank is a "no name" product probably made by a low end producer by the name of Lasco, and the other "Dawes" branded stuff is likely from a low cost producer as well.

So, I hate to rain on your parade, but I really think you should find your local bike club and see if any members have a bike for sale in your price range.

The only similarities that the drivetrain has to Dura Ace or Ultegra is the name Shimano.

EDIT: Forget the one from Amazon. In order to successfully buy a good bike online I suggest that you visit a few local bike shops, tell them how you want to ride, and take notes on their responses. My guess is that you'll find a deal fromone of them the same as or better than online PLUS get the support after the sale cyber retailers can't give you.

  4. NEITHER!! BD is a scam. The MSRPs are totally fake and unreasonable for the bike you get.

If you have a low budget, save your money and buy a decent road bike from a real company, one with humans.

    P.S. SHILLERS

  5. Ok, well both bikes are very similar with the same type of derialers (sora) and threadles carbon fiber forks. The first bicycle is more geared for commuting then racing with the brakes in two different positions. The second bike is about as basic a tri bike you could get, with the same components as the above bike, with just a different handle in a lower position, only one set of brakes, and aerobars added. Both are good bikes, as you could pay around 800 for a trek with sora components at a local bike shop, but the pay off is you get fitted, and free service. I would avoid bike number 3 due to the components not even being sora level, and  not much info on the bike as well. I like the white color on bike number 2. Both dawes were never worth the $1000 listed price, but with sora derailers for that price, its an ok deal.

  6. Sorry, going to have to disagree with both above comments and say the second one! Not the only reason, but the colour on it is awesome! I also prefer the tri-style handlebar. That said, the first bike is cheaper!
