Which road should I drive through the Peak District if I want to see heather on the moorlands ?

I will be driving through the Peak District with two objectives, see some scenery (that's easy), and see some heather covered moorlands. As we will have a couple of young children we can't wander off the road too far. So which roads I should drive through to meet both objectives ? Thanks for any insight. (expected date/time: late July, mid-afternoon)

  1. Anything that takes you around the Bradfield Bolsterstone area. Plus it'll be less touristy.
