This is suck a debate in my house. We have indoor cats. My husband wants the litter box in the kitchen because it has the most extra space for the box. I think thats discusting and want it in the office. What room do most people keep the smelly litterbox in?

  1. We used to have it in the bathroom, under the sink vanity, it was huge, but now we use a hall closet usually used for extra storage space. My cats can open the door when they need to, still trying to teach them to close the door afterwards. It keeps the smell down and the door keeps it out of sight of guests.

  2. the laundry room

but our laundry room is bigger than most..

so i would think the office deff! you dont want a litter box in the same room you make food!

  3. We have one in the bathroom and one in the office. I agree I would not want it in the kitchen.

  4. Right now we have ours in the basement; out of the common living space.

We've also kept them in my room [When the one cat belonged to me.]

And a bathroom can be a nice place; I've had friends keep them in the laundry room.

I don't suggest the kitchen since that is where food is prepared and little boxes aren't so clean...

  5. We have two of them- and we have two little entry-ways.. foyers I guess. One we use as a laundry room. We keep one in each. My aunt keeps hers in the bathroom which is where ours used to be too, but its just too small, my granny keeps hers at the end of one of her hallways.. My mom keeps hers in the basement. I am definitely with you on not keeping it in the kitchen- they stink and thats where people eat- plus, I wouldnt want to be enjoying a meal or trying to cook and see the litter box. (I dont know if you guys have a separate dining area.. but still)

Hope I've given you some ideas.

Oh- and when we first got our kittens, we kept them and a litter box in our bedroom (they were only in there at night with us), and I cleaned it out as soon as I saw anything, and surprisingly it didnt smell.

  6. kitchen because he do not go any wear else

  7. the office, definitely NOT the kitchen, gross

  8. we have ours next to the washer in laundry area or in the bathroom if you have the room that way you can scoop every day and flush it so it doesn't smell that bad. I agree with you on the kitchen -unless it is huge and well away from food and eating areas. Office is ok if you are in there a lot and can change the box every day so it doesn't smell there.

  9. Best spot would be the bathroom.

  10. Ours is near the kitchen dinette.  With proper litter maintenance and all, the cats litter box/pan does not present an odor problem.  We even keep the clumps and turds inside until trash pick-up day.  With a proper dusting of baking soda any offensive odor is controlled.

    All the Best

  11. We put our multi-cat box in the second bathroom where they can get at it easily. It is also easy to flush the poo directly down the toilet. We use a clay litter, Tidy Cats, and could not flush the clumping style litter.

Practical and sanitary, the second bathroom works for us and our cat family!

  12. I keep mine in the basement or the computer room. I agree that the kitchen is not the best place to have the litter box. I like mine as far away from my bedroom and living areas as possible. Cats also prefer their box to be in a out of the way place.. kitchens are high traffic I'd think that kitty would prefer the box elsewhere. My computer room is basically the cat room I have their food and litter box in here. It's the least used room. I did have the box in the basement but I foster other cats now so that's sort of my quarantine area for new foster kittens.
