Question:

Which route is better: IB or AP?

I want to know if it is worth studying in IB from people that know about this program. Please help me!

  1. IB is definetely a more academically challenging.  However, IB requirements will take up a lot of time, including weekends and summers.  You will not have a lot of time for work or sports.  With  AP you will probably have enough time to keep up and do outside activities.

    It depends on what you want and how motivated you are to get there. You probably need to think about your financial state and how you will be paying for college, too.    Will you regret not having an afterschool job and playing on the basketball team?  If not, then IB may be the way to go.


  2. Either is good and well regarded - I believe though that the difference is that after AP classes you can test and get college credit for some of them.  Both are rigorous, typically IB is an entire course of study so that all classes are on an IB track like English , History etc.  In AP program you can take regular High School Classes and maybe just AP English or AP Physics.

  3. Always try for the highest you can: IB

    It is internationally recognized and classes carry more weight.
