Which route is faster to L.A. I-99 or I-5 from Sacramento?

so is I-99 from Sacramento to L.A. faster or I-5 from Sacramento to L.A. faster. I think 5 is longer but i'm not sure. i know this is a weird question. i'm goin to magic mountain friday but the car rental place won't open till 8 so i won't get to the park until 1 or 2 cause the rental place will probably take forever again so i need to know which is faster 99 or 5(also, if you know, which has more traffic, if you know tho so thnx!)
