  1. The Ostrich has a maximum speed of 80 km/h (50mph) and the horse has a maximum speed of 64 km/h (40mph)

  2. the grass what else you dummy

  3. An interesting question. The San Diego Zoo website gives this information:  "Ostriches can sprint in short bursts up to 43 miles per hour (70 kilometers per hour), and they can maintain a steady speed of 31 miles per hour (50 kilometers per hour)."  http://www.sandiegozoo.org/animalbytes/t...

The website doesn't say how long they can sustain a speed of about 30 mph, but I'm guessing not for very long-- probably not longer than a mile or two-- because they would probably overheat if they tried to sustain their speed for that long.

A top-class Thoroughbred racehorse can run a mile in approximately 1 minute and 33 seconds;  that's about 39 miles per hour.  A top-class trotter or pacer can do a mile in about 1 minute and 53 seconds;  that's about 32 miles per hour.  The impressive thing, in both cases, is that the horse is doing it while either packing weight on his back or pulling a cart.

A more enlightening statistic, at least to me, is that a horse in the peak of condition can carry a rider over the 100 mile distance of the Tevis Cup course in California at a sustained rate of about 8.8 mile per hour.  (Bud Dari completed the Tevis Cup course on his half-Arab Pancho in 11 hours and 18 minutes to set a record;  this time does not count mandatory rest stops and vet checks, but the ride must be completed in under 24 hours counting the mandatory rest stops and vet checks.)

8.8 miles per hour doesn't sound too fast, but when you consider it's over terrain that includes lots of hills and trails that are a far cry from optimum footing, and that the horse is carrying a rider and saddle with total weight probably in the vicinity of 170 pounds, that pretty darn impressive, IMO.

  4. lol i dunno =/

    im guessing the ostrich?

  5. Ostriches can sprint in short bursts up to 43 miles per hour (70 kilometers per hour), and they can maintain a steady speed of 31 miles per hour (50 kilometers per hour). Just one of an ostrich’s strides can be 10 to 16 feet (3 to 5 meters) long—that’s longer than many rooms!

I couldn't find how fast horses go, but here are a few interesting horse facts.  The four natural paces for the horse are the walk, trot, canter and gallop.  The teeth of a horse take up more space in the head than the brain.  Horses on the barrier islands drink salt water.  Horses are more comfy when facing the rear of the trailer they are riding in.

  6. dont know but my guess is horse
