Question:

Which seat is safest to place a frontward facing 5 point harness carseat in a 2002 Ford Ranger w/ cab?

It's the only vehicle I own and purchasing a 'family compact car' is not in the question right now.

I just don't think the sideways mounted seats in the cab are that safe. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

The middle seat & passenger seat in the front both supply anchors for the 'anchor carseats'. I currently have the car seat in the middle in the front. Not the most comfortable fit but I figure the middle of the truck is the safest?

  1. I would leave the car seat just were you have it now and never move it to the rear side seats.


  2. The side facing jump seats in the back are NOT safe at all.  All carseats and booster seats MUST be installed on forward facing vehicle seats.

    Try posting your question on car-seat.org.  Hopefully a tech will let you know the safest seating position for your little one.
