Which sentence is right(About grammar)

Question

1.Winning has become more important than playing to do your best and have fun.

2. Winning has become more important than playing to do your best and having fun.

Which sentence is right ? ...

And why do you think so? ... :)

Number 2 is correct.  The nouns are in sync.  The best way to check is by eliminating the phrase in the middle: "Winning has become more important than having fun."  You wouldn't say "...have fun" in this instance.  "Playing" and "having" are being compared to "winning" and thus must be in the same tense with the -ing suffix.
