Which set of golf clubs are better?

I am just taking up the sport and have the option of buying one of two different sets to start out with, could you offer any advice as to which is the best? Don't factor in price as they are both retailing for the same price because of various discounts that are on offer.

Here is set number 1 - A graphite set from Dunlop: http://www.sportsdirect.com/cat_id/CYSGLFSET/product-Dunlop-MAX-12-Piece-Graphite-Golf-Set--876027.htm

Set number 2 - A titanium/graphite set, also from Dunlop:

I'm looking to make my decision purely on club suitability. The fact that the one set comes with a bag isn't an issue!

Many thanks.

  1. I would go for set number TWO. I also started playing golf about a year ago so I know what an effort it can be if you do not drive as far as your partners, nor lying in the fairway as easily. My reason for number two is that is includes a HYBRID IRON, something in between a wood and a iron. It is very helpful in the semi-rough and on long fairway shots.

For more info go to a pro for a lesson or two. This comes highly recommended.

Enjoy the game, once your hooked your hooked.

  2. From what I can see in the ads, the second set is a little better.

  3. Junk would be a compliment to these clubs. They would look better hanging off of telephone wires then hitting a golf ball. Look into Tour Edge, and Adams Golf. Some sets go for around 150 and you can play well with them too.

  4. They are both right at the bottom of the budget market. A word of warning; The Dunlop Max are really awful - I've seen several reports of the heads flying right off them - and the second set you listed are not true titanium anyway.

Sadly Dunlop have really gone downhill recently, you'd do better to splash out a little more. Avoid Dunlop and Slazenger like the plague. Remember, you get what you pay for.

  5. They are both junk. Go to ebay and buy a good set of used clubs for a few hundred bucks. Buy a brand name, don't waste money on Knock-offs and you will be much happier.

    Ping, Cobra, Titleist, Calloway, Mizuno,

  6. If I had to choose from these two choices then I'd go with # 2.  I have a set of Dunlops but I prefer steel shafts. i personally dont like graphite because of the amount of flexibility in the shafts. I hit the ball hard and I like a stiff shaft to prevent the ol' slice. This is only my opinion. Good luck

  7. number 2 are nicer
