  1. Both are going to shoot the same (assuming the same setup).

Trajectory doesn't matter in this case b/c you're looking at under 100 yards.

What you need to determine is two things:

    1. Do you want the extra knockdown the 12ga provides?

    2. Are you willing to accept the extra recoil of the 12ga?

There's nothing wrong with a 20 gauge for deer hunting. If I'm a good size adult in the prime of his life though, I'd probably go with the 12.

  2. Your best choice is 12 gauge.*~

  3. 12 guage (Magnum), 3 inch @ 1 1/4 oz. Slug, Federal Power - Shok. 20 guage isn't legal for hunting deer where I hunt. So 12 guage it is!

  4. what you wnat man is remington 870 get a fully rifled barrle and you will have no problem shoting that deer at 50 yards and i recamend you get some kind of sabot slug there good for distance you can shoot a deer about 100yards out

  5. Both are equaly accurate to 50 yards.... Remember your not at a competition rifle shoot that requires one inch shot groups.... A 2 3/4 inch 12 gauge slug is perfect for what you want to do......

  6. The 20 gauge is more accurate but the 12gauge has more nock down power so if your not the best shot id go with the 12 gauge but if you can put it in the right spot id go with the 20gauge.  If you are using your shot gun to shoot bird shot id look into a rifled barrel because shooting rifled slug out of a smooth bore barrel can ruin it.

    Good luck hunting

  7. get a 12 use 3 inch 00 buckshot
