  1. Actually here is what I would do.  I have been skating for 8 years now, I have passed almost all my moves in the field.  I am currently skating in intermediate in all pairs, ice dancing, and singles.

1 year- get the soft ones

    2-3 years- blue ribbon

4- whenever- get SPterri custom boots, they are not hard to brake in at all.  The first time I got them, I landed all my doubles. Even combinations!  My only 2 recommendations not to get are Graphs and Klingbile.  Klingbile boots messed up 2 of my friends feet so bad they had to get surgery that kept them off the ice for 3 months. You don't want to get Graphs because they are not good quality and they are very hard to brake in.

  2. If you want a skate that lasts and are willing to pay a little more i would say risport rf4's. But if its for rereational uses the Riedell blue ribbon.

  3. i started on riedell blue ribbon skates and they were rlly good!! they were the skates i used to land my axel. they are rlly good.  the other ones are ok but i had a friend and her screws came off after about 6 months. she may just have been hard on them but idk. only 6 months. well, hope i helped!!! ♥

  4. I would choose neither because they both have microscopic toepicks and are very beginner skates. However, if you just started skating, then Blue Ribbons may be right for you just now.

  5. Have you gone to Riedell's website to see the differences in the 2 types of skates?

Blue Ribbon 121 (the classic looking figure skate)

    http://www.riedellskates.com/ice/121.htm...

Soft Series Skates (designed for comfort)

    http://www.riedellskates.com/ice/615.htm...

    http://www.riedellskates.com/ice/825.htm...

    http://www.riedellskates.com/ice/820.htm...

Generally, the Soft Series are just for skating around the rink - not particularly designed for doing "tricks".  Riedell Blue Ribbon is both a recreational and beginner level skate.  If you are planning to learn figure skating, Blue Ribbon is probably better for you.

Looking at this chart, http://www.riedellskates.com/fit/boots.h... the Blue Ribbon skates should take you through Beta/Gamma level (ISI) or Basic 4/5 (USFSA).  When you go beyond those levels, you will need to upgrade your skates.

So, if you get the Soft series, you may have to get classic style figure skates if you want to learn figure skating later (more support for your foot).  With the Blue Ribbon, you can skate around in them and have the option to "figure skate" in them.

Last note:  try them on with the aid of an expert skate fitter . . . make sure this particular brand fits your foot well!!

    Hope that helps!

  6. I recomment RISPORT, they are amazing skates that most professionals wear. They are comfy and very well made. They are a little costy but i definetyl recommend them. I've had mine for 3 years now and i have not once had a roblem with them:)

  7. Blue Ribbon Figure skates. The soft one may be comfortable but it's for begginer.

  8. Bule ribbons, hands down!

The soft skate hes a werid rim of blue.

    (my opinion)

  9. Riedell Blue Ribbon Figure Skates

  10. Hii=)

I highly recommend you to buy Blue Ribbon Figure Skates because Soft Ice Skates are for very begginer skaters and will not last you a lot, Blue Ribbon ones will last you until intermediate levels=) because of the design, and stiffness i recommend Blue Ribbon=)

  11. Riedell Blue Riddon Figure Skates

because the other ones are for people who are very beginner and the Riedell Soft Ice Skates aren't like regular skates so you could get use to learning on them and then other skates would feel weird and it would be hard to do stuff on them.

  12. Klingbeil all the way

Customs (IMO) is the way to go!

  13. I think Blue Ribbon is better if you are a figure skater but blue ribbon won't last that long either. You might want to get a little higher leveled  boot. But if you are just a public session skater that goes once in a while I think that the soft ice skate or the blue ribbon would be fine.

  14. I have Jacksons, and most really good skaters have Jacksons. Riedell is....Ok. Jacksons are more expensive, but they are custom made, and they last longer. I used to have Riedell, but they got scratched up really easily. Jacksons, like all skates, will hurt at first, and even though they are custom made, it still is a good idea to "cook/bake" your skates. Ask a coach about cooking/baking skates. I really wouldn't recommend Riedell for medium to great skaters. Jacksons really are the better of the bunch, but always remember that its not the skate that makes the person, its the person's skill and talent.

    Good Luck Skate Shopping!
