  1. I think you'd have to be looking at Turoa; closely followed by Whakapapa (both in the North Island).


  2. The site is down right now but you want to check out http://www.snow.co.nz/  Its got everything Snow related for NZ.

    I'd guess that it'd be Cardrona.  Coronet Peak and Remarkables are right next to Queenstown so they are convenient but Cardrona has a slightly higher elevation and when we went in 2004 it had better snow and more of it.  Coronet Peak is sometimes called Concrete Peak for good reason, and the Remarks are .. well unremarkable. ;)
