  1. You do not need to salt, EVER, to the foods you eat because so many already contain salt naturally. Good snacks: raisins , blackberries, oranges, fresh cherries, Asian pears, and plums have NO salt. Zucchini, grape or roma tomatoes and  Portabella mushrooms have very little sodium.

Mix low-fat sour cream with some garlic and green onions (garlic and onion powder work well). That would be great for a dip with veggies.

Black and pinto beans are fairly low in sodium. If you use canned beans, make sure you drain and rinse them well.

  2. you need sodium, if you're trying to eat a reduced sodium diet though, it's reccomended that you eat foods that have 400mg or less per serving, and that you not exceed the daily limit of 2400mg, hope that helps.

applesauce and fruits don't have sodium, triscuits are low in sodium too

  3. Your body naturally needs some salt, but not as much as people tend to think. I have included several links to check out, one is a fake salt, another is recipes from the Mayo clinic that are reduced sodium, the other is a fact site about salt.  I hope you can find something you like.

  4. i guess ones that have a lot of sugar-- or ones that say sodium free (sodium chloride- table salt)-- careful these generally have potassium iodide (as a salt)-- use with caution- to much potassium can lead to muscle cramps, and even worse, a heart attack by altering the way the heart beats. try veggies with whole grains, and seasoning- paprika, garlic, onion, basil, etc.

  5. Well there are potato chips with no salt. Just go to your local grocery store.

  6. Stick with fruits and vegetables, can't go wrong with them. Just don't dip your carrot sticks in salad dressing :)

Beans are a good way to each both healthy and cheap. I lost a lot of weight by adding a lot of beans into my diet. They are also cheap, so you save money vs. buying meat. If you buy canned beans they are very convenient since they don't spoil and are ready right when you need them. My favorite recipe is spicy Mexican pinto/ black beans but it is not sodium free.
