  1. (Um?) ... (tongue in cheek) ;-p ... can I answer this one "please" -- oh pretty please...

NO? oh darn... sorry - will anyway.

    NEITHER...

Unless you are just in the market for "SIMULATED" (note - not real) soundz...

You would do well to consider first - lower costings, and second - number of channels, with an emphasis on how few will "start" your system, with additional chl's added as speakers are "bought_in_future"...

(this option is now available up to thirteen)

    and thirdly -

(here's another tongue in cheek bit) "check_out_this_2"...

& because best things - always come in three's...

  2. personally neither!! i've got a 32 inch flat but have rigged it up to my good old trusty yahaha 300 watt amp you can buy these second hand on ebay for between £50-£100 so im sure you can get similar over there! sound ace escpecially when im playing games! all you'll need is a scart connector or whatever the equililent is over there! you can save loads of money and probably (deffo in my case!) have a much better quality of sound than the new all in one systems!! You can pick up centre, surround, rear and bass speakers up second hand too so can buy which ever suits your room best just check the max power they can handle to suit your amp! Hope this help and will save you some money!! (btw you can also by extension leads to you dont have to have it all on one unit, my tv is on the wall but the amp is ten feet away in the corner!) (PS, IF YOU GOT AN AMP YOU COULD ALSO CONNECT YOUR IPOD/ MP3 PLAYER TO IT, ASWELL AS YOU DVD, MUSIC SYSTEM, PHONE SO ON AND SO FORTH, AND NO I DONT WORK FOR YAMAHA HEHE JUST BEGRUDGE SEEING PEOPLE SPEND A FORTUNE WHEN THEY CAN SAVE MONEY AND GET SOMETHING LOADS BETTER!!)

  3. People can be very passionate about their home theater set-ups. I'm as guilty as anyone. So most people who are really into this will tell you not to get either of these.

While agree with what people are saying...to get separate components. Many people don't have the time, money, or desire to take it to that level.

So, my opinion is you would be happy with either of these. In fact, just get the one you think looks better.

Just keep in mind that there is a huge difference in sound and performance between a all in one kit like this, and buying separate components (receiver, DVD, speakers).

  4. Do not buy these cute 'systems'.

We get a lot of people who buy these, then a few months later post questions here because they cannot hook more than 1 other item to these stylish systems.

I am a big fan of HTIB's (Home Theaters in a Box) - but the parts must look like they could be sold as separate units.

    What to look for:

    Separate DVD player

Large box for the receiver (This should have LOTS of spare inputs on the back)

    Separate, self-powered subwoofer

    5 monitor-style speakers (large wooden box's)

You can find decent box units from Dennon, Yamaha and even Kenwood for that amount of money.
