Im going to study abroad in south america and I don't know whether I should go to chile or Paraguay. I know that both countries are completely different and my knowledge of these countries is very low. My goal is to be able to speak spanish and be surrounded by culture. If you can please give me some advice.

  1. chile

  2. Chile is better tha Paraguay

but I would recommend you Argentina

is cheaper and even more exciting

  3. Chile is more industrialized and sophisticated, mainly populated with European decedents from Italy, Germany, Austria and Spain.  Paraguay is very land locked except for the narrow Parana river running into the Atlantic, they have a very good traditional culture something like the Wild West.

Your decision will have to be based on what curriculum and how in depth the study will be

  4. Here's the deal ... if you want to improve your Spanish, absolutely don't go to Paraguay because they speak an indigenous language called Guarani.  If you want to improve your Spanish definitely choose Chile.  My only problem in Chile was that I didn't always understand people because it seemed like they often dropped the last consonant off of words and they talked really fast ... that could have been the fault of my mediocre Spanish skills, though!  Have a great time!

  5. pooppooppooppooppooppooppooppooppooppoop...

  6. Have you tried reading about both countries on wikipedia? I would check that out as well. Also, check out the websites of the universities you are interested in attending in both countries and see what they have to offer. Look on the internet for pictures of both countries, check out the landscapes, housing, etc. Paraguay is landlocked, so they dont have beaches, chile has beaches and more scenery.

Do as much research as you can and then make your decision. Ive never been to either country so i have no opinion of them.

  7. Chile is much more expensive...but it's got a much more spectacular landscape and is more advanced economically. It is one of the more "advanced" S. American states witha high level of literacy etc.

I went to Paraguay recently: it's very run down and the food is awful. The weather is very humid and quite unpleasant.
