Which southern california beaches allow pets?

Preferably beaches near Newport.

Many towns and beach areas have a "dog beach'.  Most in San Diego have them.  Not sure about Newport area though.

Dogs love the beach! Water, sand, other dogs, happy humans -- and no leashes! Located at the north end of Ocean Beach, Dog Beach offers open space where Rover can run to his heart's content (and his owner's, too) as long as the niceties are observed. In other words, owners must be in direct supervision of their pooches at all times, and anything that comes out of a dog must be properly bagged and disposed of immediately. Surprisingly clean, considering the patrons, Dog Beach isn't a place to let the kiddies play in the sand, but it's dandy for the doggies. And those signs that say people who don't pick up after their pooches will be ticketed? They're serious.
