I'm doing a project (personal, not academic, so you won't be helping me to cheat or anything) on places in Singapore which are still strongly reminiscent of the way it was back in the 70's. I'd like to take some pictures and write about it. Any ideas?

  1. 7 1/2 MILE bt timah police station , is still there

  2. You should go to Pulau Ubin and there got kampungs and I suggest you to quickly go before is all 100% vanished !!! As its on process of vanishing there too.

  3. Tiong Bahru...Pandan...

  4. Teban Gardens, Taman Jurong, Circuit Road and Marsiling. Go there and have a look.

  5. My suggestion is :

    1) Balestier Road and Owen Road : shop houses/buildings and some business there is still back dated

    2) Tiong Bahru : the two or three storey residential units beside the hawker centres is uniquely 70's

    3) Margaret Drive : the 2 markets (one dome shape and the 2 storey hawker centre) just beside the churches. You can still find one or two desserted cement table tennis table at the open field next to the churches.

    4) Bus-stops : see http://www.straitstimes.com/Singapore/St...

    5) Ann Siang Hill : walk up the hill behinad Maxwell Hawker Centre, there are still chinese clans house with old folks playing mahjong inside, some still preserve the old painings and furnitures.

    6) Charcoal shop : there is this very old shop that sells only charcoal along Lavender Road, very near to the junction with Balestier Road

    7) Dakota Crescent : Block 10 to 30 (diagionally opposite Old Airport Road hawker centre) are very old estates
