  2. If you're surf fishing, Pompano, flounder, redfish and speckled trout.  The dude above who suggested spanish mackerel obviously didn't pay attention to the fact that you were surf fishing.

  3. we've been seeing a lot of black drum in the cocoa beach area.  also got a fat redfish last week in the surf.  kings or spanish show once in a while too!  live shrimp or blue claws are my first pick... after that mullet!

  4. Although, you CAN catch Flounder, Redfish, Drum, Trout, Snook, Blues,  Etc. in the Surf your "average" catch on ANY beach in FLA is Gaft-Top Catfish(Sailcats), Whiting, Saltwater Cats(different to Sailcats"), & Bonnet-head/various Sharks.

To "up your odds" on catching Reds, Trout, Flounder, Etc try to plan your fishing trip near "inlets", "jettys" and waters near the ICW.

If you go fishing on just "any 'ole beach" you will mostly catch Whiting, Cats, Etc.

A good idea is to have 2 spinning outfits.

1 rigged with 10-12LB line; designed for casting Jigs & Lures.

1 rigged with 14LB; designed for throwing live & dead bait.

Sheephead, Blues, Whiting, Sand Trout, Spec Trout, & Reds all love "live-bait" over dead-bait.

    Sheephead-live fiddler, dead shrimp, clam/oyster.

Blues- Dead or live bait, Shiny Spoons & jigs.

Whiting/Sand Trout- Dead shrimp/squid or cut-bait. Live Pogey.

    Reds-Live Mud-minnow,Shrimp, or Pogey.

Spec Trout- Live Pinfish, Pogey or Shrimp. Topwater lures.

Look through my "starred Q" on my profile. There is some good info in there.

Hope that helps ya? Good luck!
