Which spelling and which middle name?

Which SPELLING:

Melanie or Melaney? I love the name Melanie and I like the name Laney (spelled like this) so I thought up the spelling Melaney. Is it too weird or is it cute? Nickname would be Laney (or Lanie), Mel, or Annie.

Melanie / Melaney Ruth-Ann is my fave. If you want Melaney then do.  My daughter has a unique name some people think it's cute others don't. All I hear is she'll have to spell it she'll get bullied. Even people with the right spelling shall we say are asked to spell their names. I've known people with unique names that were very popular in school. So she says her names melaney with e y on the the end thats not difficult and she'll prob be known as Mel anyway to her friends.

The double middle names are too much, and Melanie Laura doesn't go good togerther.

Go with the spelling Melanie, she can still have the nickname Laney.

Melaney looks as though it should be pronouced Mel-LANE-ee, which isn't nearly as cute.

If you spell it "Melaney" be prepared for people to always pronounce it wrong and spell it wrong...BUT I do love the short form Laney (the actual name Laney comes from is Elaine)  and Johanna is a cute middle name!

I like Melanie, and there's no reason why you couldn't use Laney with the 'ie' spelling of Melanie. Of the middle names you have I like Melanie Laura, but as someone above me posted, Melanie Grace does sound very cute! When I see Melaney, it makes me want to pronounce it Mel-ay-nee, with a long a sound, rather than Mel-ah-nee.

I prefer the original spelling. I have issues with "unique" spellings because it's miserable to have to go through school (and jobs and relationships...) always having to spell your name out, then correct people over and over again. I know because my mom gave me a very popular name with a very weird spelling.  

But I really like Melanie. I think it goes VERY nicely with Johanna.

I'd avoid the hyphenated names simply because it A), looks very country ("this here's a story 'bout Billy-Joe & Bobbi-Sue..."), and B), is a mouthful to say.

Laney would be a very sweet nickname, though, especially if you already like the name so much.

My pick would be Melanie Johanna.

my fave is Melanie Ruth-Ann band call herMel because i always liked the name Mel for a girl. i think melanie should be spelled like that because if it's spelled the other way people will always be spelling it wrong when she starts school
