Worldwide I believe auto racing has more fans than any other sport.  Nascar is just one part of auto racing, but in terms of total fans it might have an edge over golf, but that is just number of spectators watching it.  In terms of participating in the sport there are many times more golfers in the world than people actually racing in Nascar.  So the answer is different if you are talking out watching someone else doing it, or doing it yourself.

WAIT??  Nascar is a sport?  How so?  Anyone with a Drivers License can take a few driving tips and be a Nascar driver.  Golf takes years of practice just to be decent at it.  And im sorry the car does 99% of the work so the car is the athlete not the driver.

Example:  

Jump in a car, step on the gas and go, anyone can do it, maybe not the best at it but the very first time they try they are able to go around the track.  (I did the Tom Petty Nascar thing at Disney World, pretty fun by the way)

Give someone a golf club that has never played golf before, give him a quick 1 hour lesson, I guarantee he wont be able to go out on the course and play.

Last week I watched Nascar....... this weekend I watched golf

next weekend I might watch both.

It all depends on who you talk to.......  Some people might say watching paint dry is more entertaining.

More people play golf than people that participate in NASCAR. NASCAR has 36 races a year and golf tournaments are played year-round. I will say that NASCAR fans are way more adamant about their favorite driver than golfers are about their favorite golfer. Spectator- wise, I think you're asking a question to which you know the answer.
