Which sports is most played? Basketball or soccer. Not which one is most popular which one is most played?

The reason for me asking this is because. Me and my cousin got in an argument over which sports is better i say soccer and he says basketball? So can y'all help us out. Thanks

Football (the correct name for soccer) is watched and played by far more people than watch or play basketball. Both sports are good but i prefer football.

Soccer, by a mile.  It's easier to setup, all you need is a field, a ball and whatever you can use for goal posts.  Way back when, we used to just use two pairs of shoes to mark where the goal is.  It might not be very apparent here in the US, but go to Mexico or Indonesia(where I'm from) and it becomes very clear which sport is played more.  I don't remember seeing that many basetball courts around.  But almost everywhere there's an open field, you have people playing soccer.

Soccer is more popular for reasons I don't know because it must be the most boring thing to watch after golf. Basketball is definitely far better to watch, unfortunately it was invented AFTER the english tried to take over the world and failed miserably...
