I am currently living in NJ and going to school for my MBA/CPA. I would like to live in a state where my income will allow me to live comfortably. I know in NJ I will struggle even with a good salary.

  1. Just stay away from Michigan. The towns and cities are so overrun with urban blight and crime, it is hard to find a place AWAY from it. When you actually DO find an area that is doing well with safe streets and ample police numbers, the price tag is OUTRAGEOUS.

I'd say look in the southwest, NM, AZ, etc. Plenty of schools, low cost of living, blossoming economy and many new jobs. That's the place to be nowadays (think Albuquerque).

  2. South Carolina.

  3. there are going to be lots of biased answers here. so here is mine.

    Minnesota

    - low crime

    - great schools k - university

    - cheap housing

    - lots of entertainment

    - many different settings all in the Twin Cities metro area (Mpls-Saint Paul)

    we have high taxes though

  4. We have a very strong economy here in WA state thanks to the liberals.

Cost of living can be reasonable, just depends on where you live in the state. Stay in the smaller counties and rual towns if you want cheap housing.

Food prices are real cheap if you shop at winco, which is only in the northwest.

Fuel can be too cheap if you buy bio-diesel and we are the largest producer of the stuff in the US.

The state also has cheap affordable health care for all residents and citizens of the state. Some people pay less then 100 bucks a month for health care that covers everything except surgeries.
