I've found that Petsmart is really expensive.

Cheap food is not good food. Keep in mind that an all seed diet for budgies is extremely unhealthy. Your budgie should be getting pellets as their staple supplemented with some seed and fresh foods.

Some good pellet brands to look for: Roudybush, Zupreem Natural, Totally Organics, or Harrison's.

Do chop carrots, hardboiled eggs, greens, melons, peas and celery for the bird.  Make it look GOOD.  If you want cheap seeds, that is what you will get at WalMart.  She needs fresh food morning and late afternoon.  Just like birds.

If you have any pet stores in your area that sell food in bulk that would be the place to go. A chain called Pet Supplies Plus sales all their bird and small animal food in bulk. So you buy it by the pound. That store its about 98cents a pound. Very inexpensive. You may be able to find one in your area. Thats where i buy all my food when you have 8 different types of birds it usually helps.

Well if you do get "cheap" bird food then just know that you could give him organic sometimes. And you could give him seeds or fruit. Just don't get "bad" bird food.

You can get food anywhere but I wouldn't necessarily get the lowest price. With some store brand names {the ones in boxes} of have been sitting in warehouses for awhile and can lose alot of the vitamins.If possible I would get it where you can buy it per pound or at least buy a higher priced mix.-if you have a choice grab seed from the back as this is usually the newer stock.

You can get parakeet seed at the grocery store. Just be sure to supplement with pellets and vegetables or else they could get malnutrition.
