I want a more professional studio rather than the one I am at now. They are good, but I feel like I need something 1) closer and 2) more complex and professional

2 choices:

1) RPAC- Located a little less than ten minutes from my house, offers ballet, jazz, tap, pointe, hip-hop, and lyrical. www.ridgewoodpac.com

Faculty-please look at the website

or the second studio...

Irine Fokine SOB- Located a little less than ten minutes from my house, offers only ballet and jazz.

Faculty-please look at the website

*My question is which faculty to you think would be my best bet to study under to get a pre-professional education in dance?

Also, do you think it would benefit me more to go to a specialty ballet studio and do only ballet and jazz or go to a studio with a wider choice of dance types(to do ballet, jazz, tap, and lyrical), but may not get as good of a training in ballet???*

Any help is greatly appreciated. Sorry that I couldn't put the faculty on her, it wouldn't fit.

  1. I also say RPAC...

Althought the other to might be better in ballet and jazz because thats all they teach, it is better for you to go to a studio that had more types of dancing to offer!!

Also with more types of dances/dancing they will in the long run help you with each other!! Each type of dancing is great for diffrent things!!

    Have Fun and Good Luck♥

  2. Couldn't get the second studio....but looking at the choices - I would probably go for the second one.  Here's why:

    1. If you're wanting to go for a professional career in ballet, it is imperative that you go to a ballet school that specializes in only ballet (and maybe a little bit of modern).  Otherwise, the ballet training won't be as good and you won't be accepted into companies like NYCB, ABT, etc.  Also, once you're about 11 or 12 yrs old, you ideally would go to a professional strictly ballet school in the city like School of American Ballet in NYC.  **That's a personal decision and recommended if you're going to become a professional ballet dancer - I chose not to go to SAB because of the different commitments.**

    2. But, if you're not going to apply to a ballet company and specialize in ballet (some ballet companies like ABT base their choreography on ballet but do some modern pieces too so it's not 100% complete ballet but like 95% of it is) then go to the other studio.

You really have to look at what you want to do or picture yourself doing - if you like doing competitions and want to be well-rounded in all types of dance and go on like So You Think You can Dance, then go to the first one (they do sound pretty good - it'd be better if they had more pics of their students though).  If you just want to do ballet then definitely go to the second one.  Try a couple of classes from both and see which studio you like better and feel more comfortable in.  Good luck!

  3. RPAC.

It sounds professional. It offers Many different styles which shows that they are well rounded that you may become well rounded to which is the key in dancing. =)
