  1. I dont care how good your speakers are they will never get as low as a subwoofer. I recommend you buy a REL sub. These subs can be installed as both LFE and to also supplement your front speakers. So what I would recommend is use your current sub as LFE for your surround sound and buy a REL sub to supplement your front speakers. You will be amazed by how much sound you loose when you dont have a sub in parrallell to your speakers.

  2. I too have BP2000tls.

I use the LFE input. I have my reciever set at 100hz for the sub. I do not remember what the mid bass driver frequency response is. I'd have to look in the manual. I have found that 100hz and up is just fine for the mid bass section on my speakers. But I have the older BP2000tls not the mythos Sts they are different drivers and crossovers.

I would use all the subs actually. If you do not use the ones built into the towers you have wasted a lot of what makes those speakers what they are. You will have a much more seemless response using the built in subs. The additional one should be treated as such an additional sub.

    Experiment.

Actually I found that DefTech is very good at answering emails. Shoot them an email and see what they recommend. It may take a day or 2 for a response but they have always answered my questions. You can contact them through their website. definitivetech.com

  3. I agree that the sub audible duties should be shared. I would also recommend that you contact DEF TECH to get the ideal set points for your receiver since it allows for this kind of signal management.

I would include the exact set up. configuration and room dimensions to get the most accurate answer. Conversely you may want to contact denon with your speaker specs and see what they recommend for ideal sound.

You may also want to look at a professional installer designer for a tuned calibration.

  4. I have 2000tl's from DefTech and the subwoofers in the towers are turned off in favor of a single sub in the corner of the room.

The placement of the L/R speakers is almost never the right place for a subwoofer in a HT system. And having multiple sub locations tends to create a horrible interaction.

My advice: use the floor sub only.  Tell your receiver the L/R speakers are SMALL.

Turn the sub crossover to it's maximum setting so the receiver takes care of the crossover duties.  You dont want the sub to 'second-guess' the receiver.
