I haven't decided on which one of those I want to major in.

1. Which subject is more interesting?

2. Which subject is more fun?

3. Which subject will make you a better person once graduated?

BTW, I am NOT going to get a job in either one of these fields of study because I am going to dental school after undergrad. But I want to major in Anthropology or in Philosophy, and I want to make sure that I make the right choice of my major.

  1. Well, I've taken a lot of philosophy classes in addition to my anthro coursework and I find both to be stimulating.  The study of anthropology can take you in so many different directions though, and although I am biased, I find anthropology to be more interesting and more fun.  As far being a "better person", either one would help you although I believe that anthropology, especially socio-cultural anthropology, will help you find a greater understanding of different cultures and societies.

  2. It depends on you...

You can always change your major later, so take equal amounts of both courses, and later if you start leaning in one direction or the other, you can always change at that time!

  3. I found both to be fascinating in their own unique way.  I am not sure either will make you a better person, but philosophy will certainly make you a better problem solver, and, if taught properly, a better thinker.

  4. well anthropology certainly uses a bit of philosophy its self.

as an archaeologist i have to vote for anthropology but since my graduate interest was in religious philosophy i guess i'd have to say both are great.

    you could minor in philosophy...
