Which subject should I take : Fine arts or Music?

I have to choose between these two subjects for school, I can't draw and I can't play any instrument fluently. I'm more interested in music but I would love to try on Fine-arts (which means I have no experience at all with it).

Which one should I take?

  1. Both Fine Arts and Music leave a wide range of options. But to answer with the little information given.

Fine Arts is not just about drawing, but can be about the philosophy of Arts in general.

While Music can range form appreciation, specific instruments, to music theory.

I personally, have a passion for Music in all aspect, but I am also intrigued by all aspect of the Arts at large.

If you can be more specific on the classes, you may receive a  clearer answer.

  2. omg! id say music!! well.. depends on how much written work you want to do.. music is composing your own work and looking at all different music scores.. but art!! OMG, its soooo much essays! you have to research all different artists and write about them.. and you have to complete at least 10 boards for your gcse, then only 4/5 are chosen.. (i think.. something like that anyway...) but if you like art, its a great subject.. the only thing is is that in both subjects you can only stick to one thing. e.g in  music you chose one instrument to base all cwk and study on.. ( or you can sing) and this will be your gcse performance piece. in art its only ever drawing/painting/sketching.. clay work or sculpturing is not allowed. so yeah.. the choice is yours! well, good luck with your studys anyway.. hope you like the one you choose :D

  3. You can always learn about fine arts through the Internet - but the Internet can't teach you to play an instrument

  4. Fine arts. It's got some history behind it while most music courses I've seen at school are just about learning to play rather than the history. You could apply what you learn in the FA course with any history or english (some books occur in the same time period as art you learn about) classes you take.

As for robfell2's comment. It's a whole lot easier to learn an instrument online via youtube faster than visually learning what artist painted what just by going off their styles and subjects. It's best to take a Fine Arts course since it's harder to learn it all on your own.
