Which subjects should I take for my 'o' levels if i want to be a journalist?

is it really important to take history and geography?

I'd go for English, English Literature, Sociology, Psychology as your top four.  I'd say Geography was more important than History only because of the way history is taught these days.  'O'  levels don't matter quite as much as 'A' or the degree you choose so don't worry too much - no-one is going to look at your CV in later years and pick on the 'O' levels you chose to do.
