Which subs?

i have a 2008 SONY XM-1S CAR CLASS-D MONO SUB AMPLIFIER 290 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms

500 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms

i was wondering if i should get the kicker cvt's that are 2ohm or 4ohm?

  1. It depends on how many you are planning on running. Those are a single voice coil woofer.

    If you want 1 get the 2 ohm that way you can run your amp at the lowest stable ohm load.

    If you want  2 get the 4 ohm and wire them in parallel. giving you a 2 ohm final load. also running the amp at it's lowest stable ohm load.

    If you were to get 2 two ohm woofers then your only wiring configurations would be in parallel at 1 ohm where the amp isn't stable. Or, In series at 4 ohms where you wouldn't have enough power.


  2. 2 ohms will give you more bass.  It's almost as if you have two 4 ohm subs hitting in ur car (not really though).  I have a single 2 ohm sub (Kicker CompVT) hitting in my truck and it pounds hard.  Keep in mind that your subs should be within the RMS range of your amp otherwise you will blow your subs.  Do what you want though.
